set it on 64 and place on more clothes and save some money. This business of being “cold” when it is adequate is just a woman business and has no basis. If your body works to keep warm, you burn more calories and then lose the stout and then you are warmer as you don’t have to keep that mess warm.

Have you talked to your landlord? Possibly he / she could replace the windows or add storm windows? It might be the heating system needs to be bled if it is an older steam system.

You can also pick up plastic window kits at a local hardware store. They go over the inside of the window (very clear) and stop the drafts from coming in.

If you have a generous outside north wall… feel the wall. If it’s cold you could hang a generous quilt type tapestry on it to insulate the wall and save on heat.

If contacting your landlord doesn’t do anything… you may be able to get help from your town of city government.

    Excellent Luck

to the answerer who said “its a woman business, your rocket scientist diploma is in the mail…..”, (idiot) When it is cold, it is cold! I despise having to wear full sweats gear to just sit around the household. It is somewhat suffocating…..We live where it doesn’t really snow, but it gets cold as crap….We use a wood burning stove….If that is not an option for you, I suggest covering your windows with plastic. NOT all of them, but the ones on the North side of the home. Anywhere you feel a draft. Your front door, check to see if air is coming in here, and judge it or not, the electrical outlets along your wall….Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, they all sell inserts, you take off the plates to your outlets, place the “slot in” on, place plate cover back on…they are not expensive. They sell rolls of insulation tape you can place around your door form, and if that isn’t an option, take an ancient rub down and roll it up, and place it along the underside of your front door….Electric heaters will suck your electricity worse than anything. You can get a humidifier, that will place moisture in the dry air that comes with winter, we keep a huge pot of water on top of our wood stove for that purpose. If you have a vaporizer, use that. If you can, I would check one of the home do it physically centers for a more efficent form of heat, than the standard electric heater…..Hope some of that helps, I despise winter!!!!!!
