We had to replace our heating element not long ago. We had to drain ALL the water out… and painlessly replace the element.
Call the plumber and pretend you might be hiring them for the job…. lol… tell them what is vacant on, and you might be able to do it all physically with their insight!
    excellent luck!
Oh… I have a feeling with all the electrical work you did…. you fried the element. Just a guess.

    Check the pilot light first.

no your pilot light probably went out

Check both elements and their respective thermostats for malfunction. Power surges won’t harm the elements as much as persons hegemony stats! :-) =

it is usually the thermostat that blows as a consequence of power cut and temporary fluctuations in the amps , replacing the thermostat is much cheaper than replacing the element and does not require draining the water first , check the wiring on the thermostat if you take a screwdriver and set it back to zero degrees and the back to you first heat setting you should hear a clicking sound try that , if it doesnt click it’s blown .

Here is, in fact, a reset pin on some electric water heaters. It is located on the black plastic box where the wires attach. It is usually a red pin. Find it and push it.
