I reckon you need a new furnace, check with the electric company to see if you can get any tax credits or discounts through them, I had my gas shut off and use electric interval heaters, I heated the household for half of what I would have paid in gas, mainly because they have been deregulated and can charge what ever they want now, our gas doubled and then some, in fact they shut peoples gas off for being late(even a week) so they can get disconnect fees($75.00) reconnect fee($75.00) and very generous deposit and pay off the rest of the bill and pay an estimated bill all up front before they turn it back on, nearly $1000.00 for gas you haven’t even used, I reckon it is a crime, but nobody can do anything about it but exchange to electric. and gas is the most plentiful and cheapest store we have but the public who hegemony it is gouging the heck out of us just for more profits.possibly check with the dept of energy to see if you can get a rebate for an energy efficient models.
